Submission Guidelines

IDSXL Publishing Opportunities

We invite early career scholars, practitioners, and academics to provide their individual, unique, and balanced perspectives on current and emerging security threats in the globally.

We accept a range of contributions from longer Research Note between 3000-12000 words to shorter Commentary between 500-700 words, excluding references. The research note and commentary should provide an assessment and analysis of the relevant security problem affecting the region. These can be on a variety of contemporary security issues the world, including but not limited to:

Submission Guidelines

Format: The Research Note is accepted only as a Microsoft Word file (.docx) and should not exceed 12000 words, excluding references. It is preferable to use Helvetica fonts (12-point size) with a line spacing of 1.15 or 1.5. References should be in the form of footnotes, and the text must include a brief abstract of 150-250 words but should not be accompanied by a bibliography at the end. Quotations should be presented with double quotation marks except in longer quotations of over 30 words.

The Commentary is accepted only as a Microsoft Word file (.docx) and should not exceed 700 words, excluding references. It is preferable to use Helvetica fonts (12-point size) with a line spacing of 1.15 or 1.5. References should be in the form of footnotes but should not be accompanied by a bibliography at the end. Quotations should be presented with double quotation marks except in longer quotations of over 30 words.

Citation system: The system used for the footnotes is based on the Chicago Manual of Style with slight and consistent modifications for clarity. It must be noted that the use of foreign language sources should include the English translation of the original title in brackets. Examples of footnote referencing are provided below. Each initial reference of a source should be in full, while the following references of the same source should be presented in a shortened version; avoid using p. and pp. for page(s)
as well as abbreviations such as op. cit. and ibid.
